William Hearne, The London Merchant
According to the book, "Brief History & Genealogy of the Hearne Family" by William T. Hearne of Independence, MO.  The merchant, William Hearne, brought with him to America two Ledgers or Day Books with entries from the mid to late 1600's and a book of his family genealogy tracing his family line back to the time of William the Conqueror!  Although one of the Day Books and the small book of genealogy had disappeared or been destroyed, one of the Day Books was in the possession of W. T. Hearne in 1907.  Following that time, the Ledger or Day Book has never again been mentioned.
In late 1973 my dad and I located the whereabouts of the old ledger... then in the possession of a William Hearne in Kentucky.  Early 1974 we obtained a photo copy of the Ledger and it's contents.  It is therefore with a sence of family pride that I have scanned those copies to the web!
